Replacement Research Facility

Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. designed the electrical system for a six-story research building including two vivarium floors and four research laboratory floors. The design included an emergency power system to provide 100% redundancy of the electrical system for the vivarium during a normal power outage.

The 21,400 SF vivarium includes a rodent holding facility with a transgenic component, large animal holding rooms, and a surgery suite.

The laboratory floors include BSL-2 labs and one BSL-3 laboratory.
