Stardust Mission Curation Laboratory

Shah Smith and Associates served as the prime professional consultant, responsible for all architectural and engineering design for this project.

The project consisted of renovating three existing lab spaces into a cleanroom facility.  The project included modification of existing controls, installation of a new air handling unit system and associated electrical modifications to serve both the new cleanrooms and several mission critical areas.  The cleanroom consisted of a Class 10,000 shell, with a modular Class 1000 changing area and Class 100 laboratory constructed inside the shell.

SSA served as prime consultant and retained the services of architectural and structural consultants.

The facility is used for study of comet particles collected by the Stardust spacecraft.
