Science and Technology Complex
University of Texas of the Permian Basin
Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design engineering services for the Science and Technology Complex.
Design of the Science and Technology Complex addresses the campus’ need to consolidate science programs in to a common location. This allows the campus to achieve economies of scale and optimize its investment — offering its expanded student population, as well as graduate and science communities, a more sophisticated teaching and research labs for chemistry, environmental science, biology, and physics. Also incorporated are computer technology laboratories and a 200 seat lecture hall.
The 70,000 SF facility includes additional classrooms, labs, faculty offices, and student study areas for chemistry, physics, biology, computer science, and information resources.
The facility is designed for undergraduate and graduate teaching and research, and campus-wide information systems support. The building is part of a master plan designed to make the campus a full service university. The complex will enable the university to consolidate many of its science programs into one building and provide state-of-the-art teaching and research space.
