Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design engineering services for a 46,000 sq. ft. Electrical Engineering Building.
The project consisted of offices, classrooms, conference rooms, research and teaching circuits and electronics labs, academic labs and research labs. The project also included a 250 seat auditorium.
The electrical service consisted of a new transformer connected to the existing Prairie View A&M University 12 kV underground distribution system and 480Y/277V distribution in the building. K-rated transformers and transient voltage surge suppression will be utilized to protect sensitive electronic circuits and equipment.
A variable air volume HVAC system with heat wheel and pre-treatment for outside air is provided.
