Natatorium Renovation/Improvemets

The existing metal halide lighting system was replaced with a new LED lighting system. This new system significantly reduced the lighting energy use and provided better lightning for the space.
The pool filtration and clinical treatment system were replaced in this project. The filtration and clinical treatment system were designed by another consultant but the interconnecting piping for these systems was designed by SSA.
The existing natatorium HVAC system consisted of four DX dehumidification air handling units serving the natatorium and spectator area.
The SSA design consisted of three DX dehumidification air handling units to serve the natatorium and one 100% outside chilled water air handling unit with a run around coil for the spectator area. 50% of the natatorium outside air requirements were provided by the spectator air handling unit. The return air ductwork was reconfigured to lower the return air grills to the floor level.
This system greatly improved the indoor air quality for the spectator area and was more energy efficient than the existing system.
