Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing/ fire protection engineering services to for the new Prairie View A&M University Panther Stadium and Athletic Building.

When Prairie View A&M University decided to upgrade its existing stadium, it chose to build a new Football Stadium and Athletic Building. The new Football Stadium was built at the location of the existing stadium. It has 15,000 seat capacity, which includes VIP suites and a press box. The Athletic Building is 54,000 square feet and includes hall of fame, locker rooms, training facilities, and offices.

HVAC for the VIP suites and press box use variable refrigerant volume (VRV). The Athletic Building uses rooftop DX equipment for conditioning the spaces.

Electrical service were supplied from the 12.47kV campus electrical distribution system. Transformers reduced the voltage for use at the facilities. A 300kW standby generator provides power to selected loads during outages.

Plumbing systems consist of low water use fixtures and condenser water heaters. The gas line serving this area of the campus was upgraded to a higher pressure to support the additional gas requirements.
