ExxonMobil refinery, chemical plant, and polyethylene plants in Beaumont contain numerous control rooms, electrical equipment rooms, and process analysis lab facilities to support the production processes. 

Shah Smith & Associates has performed design work for the specification of HVAC systems for these support facilities including N+1 redundant fault tolerant systems, HVAC equipment for NEC class I division 2 areas, temperature and humidity control systems, and fresh air NFPA 496 pressurization systems.

Work has also included system operation troubleshooting and root cause analysis for failures in HVAC systems as well as equipment condition assessment and planning for replacement.

SSA worked in collaboration with ExxonMobil O&M staff and manufacturers to develop equipment specifications for facilities with the purpose of decreasing life cycle cost through lowering replacement frequency by designing for improved performance for typical failure modes.
