Westlake 4 Kitchen and Cafeteria Replacement

BP

PROJECT COST:

$4,000,000

BP’s Westlake 4 is a 20 story building on its campus in west Houston.  It was built in the mid 1980’s.  The first floor houses the full service kitchen and cafeteria.  The scope of this project was to demolish the entire kitchen/cafeteria and build an entirely new kitchen, server and seating area.  Shah Smith & Associates provided the MEP engineering design for this project.

The project had a very tight design and construction schedule.   The design was completed in eight weeks.  The construction duration is scheduled for five months.

The kitchen/server area is approximately 10,000 square feet.

The kitchen equipment included walk in coolers, freezers, food pre areas, revolving ovens, fryers, griddles, smokers, salad bar, grill, sushi bar and a ware wash area.  There are a total of eight grease exhaust hoods on the project.  The coolers and freezers were connected to a backup generator to maintain power to this equipment in the event of a power failure.
