texas A&M university galveston

PROJECT COST:

$49,000,000

Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design engineering services for this new 60,000 sf building on the TAMUG Campus.  The building consists of the following types of spaces.

  • A large multipurpose assembly room divisible into smaller spaces.
  • Collaboration spaces.
  • Office space for the Associate Vice President.
  • New Campus bookstore.
  • Campus Coffee Shop.

Infrastructure Upgrades

In addition to the building design the project include several infrastructure upgrades.

  • New campus waste water plant.  SSA provided the design for the electrical service to the new plant.
  • New electrical duct bank system for future installation of a new campus electrical service.
  • New underground chilled and heating hot water piping system to replace an aging transite pipe system.
  • New electrical distribution system for the existing central plant.

These utility upgrades were issued as additive alternates that can be built as the funds became available.  The buyout savings on this project was such that all of the infrastructure upgrade alternates could be built.
