The Wellborn Grade Separation project on the Texas A&M University College Station Campus will provide a pedestrian and vehicular underpass in both the east bound and west bound directions along Old Main under Wellborn Road and the railroad tracks.

This project requires the relocation of an existing 12470V duct bank and the relocation of two 12470-480Y/277V transformers. New duct banks and transformers were provided to minimize power outages when switching over to the new utilities. SSA also worked with the Civil Engineers to provide power to a new pump station to keep storm water out of the underpass. This required a new transformer and a standby generator.

SSA coordinated with the Railroad Engineer to relocate the railroad track crossing arm controller and the Civil Engineer to relocate the roadway intersection traffic light controller.

SSA coordinated with the Landscape Architect to remove power to existing irrigation controllers and provide power to the new irrigation controllers.SSA developed a demolition plan to remove existing pedestrian lights, roadway lights and parking lot lights. SSA then worked with the Architect and Structural Engineers to design iconic light structures to light up the roadway underpasses. Likewise, SSA designed pedestrian lighting to conform to the Texas A&M University standards for this campus. New lighting contactors were provided to control the lights with a photocell. SSA also coordinated lighting locations with landscape features.
